A Glendale resident who was generous in spirit and had a great compassion for animals has passed away. Tawnia Trytten died unexpectedly on September 25, 2006. She was 32. She was born Tawnia Lane Prahlow in Eugene, Oregon, on May 31, 1974. When she was one month old, her family moved to Chicago, Illinois, where Tawnia's grandparents lived. A year after her birth, Tawnia, was happy to have a companion in her little sister, Hilary. The girls were very close to their grandparents and took vacations to Twin Lakes in Wisconsin, where they went fishing and swimming in the lake. They also created memories on a special vacation to Disney World in Florida with their grandparents. In 1983, when Tawnia's mother, Patricia, married Steve Trytten, the girls were happy to take his last name. The family moved to Glendale in 1984. Tawnia had an amazing love for animals. Over the years, she and her family rescued animals who needed a home, which included rabbits, dogs, cats, and hamsters. Tawnia was also very creative and even built a rabbit hutch by herself. Tawnia was very academic and was invited into the gifted program in the Glendale school system. She attended Toll Middle School and graduated from Hoover High School in Glendale in 1992. She went on to further education at Glendale College and California State Long Beach with a focus on nursing. Tawnia worked as a Payment Processor with Aames Home Loans in downtown Los Angeles and later she worked at DNR Records. The best parts of her life were the births of her two children. Stephen Flores was born in May 1992 and Samantha Flores was born in May 1999. Tawnia and her children shared May birthdays. Tawnia was so proud of her children and wanted the best for both of them. She is survived by her mother Patricia Trytten, father Steve Trytten, sister Hilary Trytten, children Stephen and Samantha Flores, the Flores family, sister-in-law Claudia O'Brien, her husband Dennis O'Brien and their children. There are so many other family members and friends who loved Tawnia. *A beautiful funeral service was held in Tawnia's honor at the Old North Church at Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills. Amazing musical selections, personal life stories, and a DVD Memorial Presentation with her pictures and music filled the service. Graveside services also included the release of 32 doves. One dove represented each year of her life. As the doves circled and flew home,Tawnia's spirit was free at last. Memorial donations are welcome in Tawnia's name to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org. or the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals www.ASPCA.org. |
